Why Bijoy text looks like this
Bijoy is the keyboard and font system that Bengali offices, newspapers and print shops used long before Unicode. Fonts like SutonnyMJ don’t store Bengali letters: they draw them at the positions of Latin characters. With the font installed, Avgvi gvZ…fvlv shows as আমার মাতৃভাষা. Without it – on a phone, in an e-mail, on Facebook or a website – the Latin characters appear.
Government offices, courts, schools and publishers in Bangladesh still keep many documents in Bijoy. Unicode Bengali – typed with Avro or the national keyboard, shown in fonts like Nirmala UI, Kalpurush or SolaimanLipi – stores real Bengali letters: readable everywhere, searchable on Google and safe to copy.

How to convert Bijoy to Unicode
- Open the document in Word, select the text with Ctrl+A and copy it with Ctrl+C. It is fine if it looks like Bengali there – the copied text is the Latin characters.
- Paste it into the box above. Mojibuster recognizes Bijoy and converts it right away.
- Copy the Unicode text, or download it as a file. In Word, paste it and choose a Unicode font such as Nirmala UI or Kalpurush.
You can also drop a TXT or CSV file with Bijoy text – also one that Word or Excel saved in the old Windows format (ANSI). Word files (.docx) can’t be opened directly: copy the text instead.
What the converter takes care of
- Visual order: in Bijoy,
ি,েandৈare typed before their letter (wK=কি),োandৌaround it (‡Kv=কো) and the rephর্after it (Kg©=কর্ম). Mojibuster puts them in Unicode order. - Conjuncts:
¶becomesক্ষ,Áজ্ঞ,¯Íস্ত,š¿ন্ত্র;ªand«become the র-ফলা,¨the য-ফলা. - Digits and punctuation:
2024becomes২০২৪,|the dari।, andÔ Õ Ò Óturn into proper quotation marks. - Mixed text: words already in Unicode, names, e-mail addresses and links typed in a normal font stay as they are.
When the text shows ঠinstead
If your Bengali text shows characters like বাং rather than Latin letters, it isn’t Bijoy: it is Unicode text that was read with the wrong encoding. That is repaired on another page: Hindi, Tamil or Bengali text with ঠcharacters. Hindi typed in a legacy font: Kruti Dev to Unicode. Background: what is mojibake?
Frequently asked questions
Which Bijoy fonts are supported?
SutonnyMJ and the other Bijoy fonts with the same character layout – most fonts whose name ends in “MJ”. Older fonts with a layout of their own can give wrong letters in places, so check the result before you publish it.
Why does my text still show Latin letters?
Mojibuster converts only when the result is clearly Bengali, so that English text is never changed by mistake. Very short snippets or text in another font can stay unchanged. Try pasting a full sentence or paragraph.
Can I convert Unicode back to Bijoy?
Not on this page. Unicode is the better choice for anything you share or publish – it works without a special font, on every phone and in every browser.
Is my text uploaded?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser, also on a phone. Your text never leaves your device.
